The Power of His Good News for Everyday Life

Good News FB2

My Friends, there are things that we have no power to do. We can’t fly. I hope you were not misled. In and of ourselves, we do not have the ‘”equipment” to get the job done. That’s what makes an airplane very practical!

We don’t have the “equipment” for everyday life either!

As the Scriptures say, "No one is righteous--not even one. Romans 3:10

This verse tells us that in and of ourselves, we cannot holistically act right, think right, and feel right as a way of life. Every part of our being has been effected by our rebellion against God.

That means in “everyday life”, we become our own worst enemy. We are hurt by the ones we love and we hurt the ones we love.

We have a growing list of enemies and often operate out of self-centeredness. We become preoccupied with things that lead to a diminished life and reduced joy.

That’s why the gospel is so practical for “everyday life.” The gospel rescues us from God’s wrath once and for all and it rescues us from our own sinful desires. In the power of the gospel (good news), our relationships are restored. Our sense of meaning and purpose is restored. By means of the good news in “everyday life,” we find joy in our personal and corporate worship of Christ, the experience of His great love for us. By the power of His good news, we are compelled to love as Christ loved us.

Consider the difference in the way the Word of God identifies us without faith, and then with faith in the good news!

Before we trust in the Good News:   After and while we trust in the Good News:
The old (creation) We are made and then live as a new creation
The old man  We become and live as a new man
A deceptively wicked heart We are given and empowered a new heart
Dead in our sins Alive unto God and in righteousness
Sinners that sin By faith, made righteous and do righteousness
Our old man – crucified We have been raised to new life and live in it
From the realm of the flesh To the realm of the Spirit
From the realm of Earth To the realm of Heaven

This is amazing news!

Paul tells us clearly that the good news (gospel) is practical for everyday life!

Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed (I am really proud of….) of the gospel (good news), because it is the power of God that brings salvation (rescue) to everyone who believes (keeps on believing it): first to the Jew, then to the Gentile (everyone). For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed-a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous (those given a right standing before God and those made righteous by God) will live by faith."

Can you find power for everyday life? Can you be empowered to forgive, to love, to heal, to serve, to find great joy and peace? Absolutely! The good news provides it all!

Join us this Sunday as we continue to consider His “Good News for Everyday Life.”
