1.) Satate of rest...not by works, but by faith. John 3:16; Mark 1:15

2.) State of rest...the place where God heals us, restores us... John 17:17; Philippians 1:6

3.) State of rest...is a fulfillment of all teh OT promises Matthew 1, John 1, Matthew 8

Why do we not enter God's rest?

Misguided ideas of what rest is:

1.) Not external circumstances

    a.) Not recreation 2 Corinthians 11:23-29

    b.) Not doing "nothing" John 5:15-17; cf 4:34

2.) Not a denial of reality Romans 7:24; Luke 22:39-46

3.) Not a lack of ambition Philippians 3

Resting by the Word of God
Hebrews 3:12; 4:11-13
1.) Worship in Spirit and in truth
2.) Life of surrender (Romans 12:1)
3.) Commit to honesty
