Loved: Mark 4:1-20

March 25, 2012 Speaker: Joe Walser Series: Mark

Topic: Biblical Passage: Mark 4:1–4:20

Mark 4:1-20, 24, 30-32

The Parable of the Sower

This is a lament - Isaiah 6

This is a warning of the hardening of the heart

It's to provoke a response

Matthew 13 - The seed is the gospel of the Kingdom

  • This gospel is more than the forgiveness of sins
  • The gospel is the in-breaking of the Spirit to heal every aspect of broken humanity as result of the fall

Ephesians 3:14-19

  1. On your best day, you are still more wicked than you could ever imagine
  2. On your worst day, God still sees you as perfect.

How?

- Romans 5:1-2, 6, 10 - Jesus is made a sin substitue

As a result, we are to evaluate ourselves:

  1. Hard path - Do not hear the gospel, they think it's for somebody else
  2. Thorny ground - Jesus plus (fill in the blank, ie. comfort, education, spouse...)
  3. Shallow - love other things more than Jesus
  4. Good soil - bears fruit
Titus 3:5
