Good, Bad And The Ugly: Mark 14:32-36

August 12, 2012 Speaker: Joe Walser Series: Mark

Topic: Biblical Passage: Mark 14:32–14:36

Shame cannibalize every other good thing in you life. You are a shame manager.
Shame - being unwanted, worthless......
*Ephesians 2; Romans 9:33 Whoever believes in the gospel will not be put to shame. They are not forced or left to sit in their shame.
*Hebrews 12:2; Zephaniah 3:19
Ways we feed shame:
1. We believe that we are not that bad
2.We embrace shame and believe that God isn't the good. We turn to other false gods to save us.
Jesus suffered His entire earthly life. No one has ever suffered as Christ did.
*Isaiah 53:3-10 "Intimate with...knowing as in kinsmen or family member" It never said Jesus ever laughed, he did have joy. Jesus experienced sorrow on top of sorrow.
*Mark 14:32-36 Jesus suffered so bad, nearly point of death, an angel had to comfort him from death. The cup is the wrath of God. Jesus took the cup of wrath for us.
*Isaiah 51:17-20; Jeremiah 25:15; Revelation 14:9-10
1.You are really that bad, God is angry at sin. The cup of wrath should be ours, it should have been us on that cross. Shame is dealt with by bringing it to the light.
*Psalm 21:8-10
2.What you see, that God is really that good. God crushed his own son because He loves us.
*1 John 4:10; John 15:13 That is how shame is dealt in our life. We become transformed, healed by the Gospel. Jesus took our shame.
*Romans 1:16
We are to embrace the Gospel.
Unshackled ... For real! Application:
1.Time to retrain.
2.Stop lying to yourself, you are that bad. Embrace the fact you need Jesus.
3.Stop living in despair. He took you shame.
