Hebrews: O Captain, My Captain

Topic: Biblical Passage: Hebrews 2:10–10:18

The words of cannot save us, the action saves. If it wasn’t for Jesus dying on the cross for us, we are to be pitied. The gospel produces deeds, in keeping with repentance.
Introductory points for Hebrews 2:10-18
1.Words without action cannot save.
*Hebrews 2:5-11,14-17
2.You have to embrace your deep need of a rescuer.
*Ezekiel 36:25-28; 2 Corinthians 3:1-3
If you don't know Jesus, you have a heart of stone. God must act on your behalf!

3.Jesus has done it! Our salvation has be completed!

What Jesus did:
1.He blazed a trail, founder of their salvation.
2.He brought/brings many sons and daughters to glory.
*1 Peter 2:7-9; Hebrews 12:1-2,18-24
(1) Why did Jesus suffer in the form of man? Because it was fitting!
-He had to become human in order to become our high priest.
-Demonstrates His faithfulness by suffering, He learns obedience to God through suffering that qualifies to be our high priest.
-Had to be appointed by God.
-Had to be cleanse from sin.

(2) Jesus became human to create brotherhood and solidarity, camaraderieship and compassion.
*Psalms 22:1-2,14-16,19-22
(3) To praise the living God.
