Gospel Of John: The Secret of Seeing
Topic: Biblical Passage: John 9:1–9:41
“When we try to fit God into our life movie, the plot is all wrong—and not just wrong, but trivial. When we are pulled out of our own drama and cast as characters in His unfolding plot, we become part of the greatest story ever told. It is through God’s Word of judgement (law) and salvation (gospel) that we are transferred from our own pointless scripts and inserted into the grand narrative that revolves around Jesus Christ.” ~ Michael Horton, Christless Church
1.Embrace Jesus as soul light, source of true reality and receive the vision.
2.Reject the story and remain in darkness, under the guilt of rejecting the very thing you were made for.
John 7:37-38, John 8:12, 58
3 Phrases: In Light Of The Gospel:
1.There is a sense of urgency/action (Vs. 4)
“The special vocation wherewith we are called (so we feel) as a Group is the evangelization as far and as fast as we can of the great unreached stretches that extend back of the coast line.” - Lillias Trotter
2.Do you place your trust in the Son of Man?
“Trained faith is a triumphant gladness in having nothing but God—no rest, no foothold—nothing but Himself— A triumphant gladness in swinging out into that abyss, rejoicing in a very fresh emergency that is going to prove Him true—The Lord Alone—that is trained faith.” - Lillias Trotter
3. He is in charge and the judge of the world, not you.
1 Peter 1:13
"We are uprooted from our own existence and are taken back to the holy history of God on earth. There, God has dealt with us, with our needs and our sins, by means of divine wrath and grace. What is important is not that God is a spectator and participant in our lives, but that we are attentive listeners and participants in God’s action in the sacred story of Christ on earth…I found salvation not in my life story, but only in the story of Jesus Christ." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer
