God of Addition

February 3, 2019 Speaker: Joe Walser Series: Stand Alone

Topic: Biblical Passage: John 1:41–1:44, 2 Kings 6:15–6:17, 2 Corinthians 1:3–1:4

The message starts at 11:57 if you would like to jump to that spot.

Acts 2:42-47
“They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching (that is, to what's in the Scriptures) and to prayer, and to the fellowship, and to the breaking of bread. They worshiped together with glad and sincere hearts. Those who had resources put their money at the apostles' feet so they could care for people who didn't have resources. Then there's this great final phrase describing that early church: "And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
 John 10:10 (The Message)
A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
 Proverbs 3:1–2 (ESV)
Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.
 Mark 9:21–24 (ESV)
And Jesus asked his father, How long has this been happening to him? And he said, from childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
 2 Chronicles 16:9 (TNIV)
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.
 John 11:41–44 (ESV)
So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
 John 11:24–25 (The Message)
Martha replied, "I know that he will be raised up in the resurrection at the end of time."
"You don't have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live."
 2 Kings 6:15 (The Message)
Early in the morning a servant of the Holy Man got up and went out. Surprise! Horses and chariots surrounding the city! The young man exclaimed, “Oh, master! What shall we do?”
 2 Kings 6:16–17 (The Message)
He said, “Don’t worry about it—there are more on our side than on their side.” Then Elisha prayed, “O God, open his eyes and let him see.” The eyes of the young man were opened and he saw. A wonder! The whole mountainside full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha!
 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (The Message)
All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.
